This week, I’m visiting over at one of my favorite blogs, the fabulous Yarn on the House! after overcoming some of my ridiculous technical ineptitude, Ve and I were able to have a fun + goofy (only on my part, Ve is totally a class act!) chat. so, if you’ve ever wondered what my worst knitting disaster what I’m working on right now (hint, it’ll probably be surprising to some of you!) or what “advice” I’ve got for new designers – well then go check out our chat. has sparked some awesome responses. i’m enjoying checking in (perhaps a bit obsessively, I admit!) to read the clever and creative ideas. I’ve been so inspired, that I’m actually sketching out an idea for my literary character. Anyone care to guess who it is? I’ll reveal in the next few days…

Day 8: Surrender

Each year, Ali Edwards does a wonderful project called One Little Word. You choose a word for the year, to signify your intentions, your goals, your thoughts + dreams, and then along the year you reflect and focus on your word. I started this in 2009, and my word that year was nurture. In 2010, it was gratitude. This year, it’s Surrender. There’s so many changes that are swirling around in my life right now, and I’m often finding myself unable to just let go and let god, so I am starting this year with intentional thoughts on loosening my (illusory) control and surrendering to what life will bring. I’m along for the ride.

I hope that your Christmas is magical, blessed and full of all the things that make you happy. On this First Day of Christmas, i’ve got a gift for each of you, my lovely friends who take time to visit this little space and my place.

The work of the day is done; the gifts have been given, the meals planned and prepped, and now we enter into my very favorite time – when we can each sit, pull out some yummy wool, and knit something for ourselves with reckless abandon! The flu has hit me, and hard. I’ve done pretty much nothing for the past 48 hours, except make myself some chicken soup, knit, and surf the net looking for ideas and inspiration for my December Daily. I literally gasped when I saw this:

on Etsy. Seriously, is it not the most adorable vintage christmas goodie you’ve ever seen?! You must go buy this pdf (super cheap, by the way!) from TayloredArts and plop one on every single gift you give out this season. Bonus points if it’s a knitted gift you’re giving.

And because I’m feeling a bit loopy from the flu drugs, I’m even going to give away one of these PDFs. Wow – giveaway day was so much fun! I got to enjoy a whole bunch of new blogs as I hopped around trying to win all the fabulous goodies, and then I enjoyed a mug of tea while I read all the lovely handmade gifts you’ve all received. Handcrafted rocks!!
